Michael Kurpiewski joined Zipp & Tannenbaum, LLC, in September of 2018. Mr. Kurpiewski is dedicated to working closely with and providing assistance to clients as part of a team of professionals that monitors and manages all aspects of real property taxation, and the prosecution and defense of ad valorem assessment appeals. 

Mr. Kurpiewski graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in 2013 and obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2017. While attending Seton Hall, he volunteered for The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, offering free tax help to low-to moderate-income individuals. 

Following law school, Mr. Kurpiewski clerked for the Honorable Vito L. Bianco, Judge of the Tax Court of New Jersey, in Morristown, New Jersey, where he gained invaluable experience working closely with Judge Bianco and dealing directly with matters presented to the Tax Court.

Mr. Kurpiewski has since been licensed as a certified tax assessor (CTA) in the State of New Jersey affording him expertise in the methodologies and policy concerns which guide tax assessors throughout the State.  He also holds a real estate referral license, exhibiting the broad real-property-based knowledge valued at this firm.

His practice includes the representation of taxpayers in New Jersey and Pennsylvania seeking assessment reductions for a variety of commercial properties including residential single family, multi-family and large apartment buildings/complexes, office buildings, warehouse and distribution properties, regional and super-regional malls, retail strip and power centers, research and development facilities, hospitals, nursing and assisted care facilities, hotels, casinos, racetracks, oil and gas industry properties, power generation facilities and manufacturing plants.
